J.D. Eames - J.D. Eames

An award-winning playwright, JD's plays have been performed Off-Off Broadway and in theatres around the country. She's taken workshops with the likes of Edward Albee, John Guare, and August Wilson yet JD believes it was Will Dunne who taught her how to craft plays.

During an excursion into screenwriting, she studied with screenwriter and novelist James Dalessandro, took seminars given by Robert McKee, Lew Hunter, among others, and survived the Immersion Program with Writer's Boot Camp.

Like many writers, she is an avid researcher. JD's interests range from history, science, psychology, nonviolence, politics...well, everything! That's what makes writing a great profession for her.

Over the years, JD has worked as a community organizer, a crisis intervention worker, a legal secretary and a database/application developer. She's even a WordPress theme designer. JD has been computing since the dawn of the personal computer.

She has an avid interest in birding and participates each year in Project Feederwatch. The never-ending quest for the perfect writing tool has left her currently with Apple laptops and vintage fountain pens.

She holds a M.Ed., with a major in counseling psychology, which she received from Antioch University in 1981.

As a playwright, JD does not believe it is her job to critique or review plays. She will at times, when writing about theatre, shine a light on the work of playwrights.
